Taza - IRON, UNGROUPED, 6.3 kg

Stunning Taza Iron Meteorite. An incredibly aesthetically pleasing example. Completely covered in regmaglypts and exhibiting a wonderful sculpted shape. Flow lines and fusion crust can be seen in various locations. Covered in a beautiful patina of various shades of tan and brown.

​The Taza meteorite, officially designated Northwest Africa (NWA) 859, is a rare iron meteorite discovered in 2001 near Taza, Morocco. Classified as an ungrouped plessitic octahedrite, it exhibits a distinctive internal structure composed of elongated kamacite spindles within a fine-grained matrix of kamacite and taenite, known as plessite.

This meteorite has outstanding provenance, having been in the collection of Robert Haag for many years. It can be found in his 2020 Meteorite Catalog on Page 9.
