Glorieta Mountain - INDIVIDUAL, 5.2 kg

The Glorieta Mountain meteorite is a rare and scientifically significant anomalous pallasite discovered in 1884 near Canoncito, Santa Fe County, New Mexico. It comprises a mixture of nickel-iron metal and olivine crystals, though many specimens are predominantly metallic, with olivine distribution varying widely. Artifacts suggest its use by Indigenous peoples, with a 128-gram fragment found in a pottery bowl and a 40-gram piece discovered in a medicine pouch at Nambe Pueblo, dating to around 1250 AD. Due to their history, rarity, and aesthetic appeal, Glorieta Mountain meteorites are highly prized by collectors

This is a beautiful and large complete individual (6.2 kg), covered in regmaglypts. It exhibits fusion crust, flow lines, and intact patina from original find.

Provenance from Robert Haag, this specimen appears in several of Robert Haag’s meteorite catalogs, including the 2020 edition on Page 7.
